Coreinodel welcomes Teishi home in its own way. The Castle of El Rey cuts a less looming figure compared to the Palace, and Teishi doesn’t feel ashamed to walk through the streets with her extra legs apparent.

Gem is at Teishi’s side—their friendship strained by fate itself and the circumstances of their individual lives is stronger than ever.

Returning from the Palace, Teishi and Gem sit in the back of a horse and carriage, transporting the casket of Dot Upland home. The scarf Teishi knits is beautiful, every stitch is perfect. She doesn’t give it to Gem yet though, there is much they still have to do together.

Dash Upland thanks her for the safe delivery of his brother’s body. His face is brave but there’s a deep sadness underneath. It’s a look Teishi recognises. The events of the Palace feel far away from her but she wants to memorialise them. No one will be forgotten.

She reunites with her family. There’s tears, and hugs, and promises to not leave without warning ever again. She watches her mother, her aunt, her grandmother weave together.

So Teishi began to produce tapestries. Weaving, something that once was shameful, now becomes something that makes her proud. Each tapestry is infused with the wish for the dead to not be forgotten. They are works of art, masterpieces, and she hosts exhibitions— the name Teishi becomes well known through Coreinodel.

Coreinodel will always be Teishi’s home, but she wants to explore. There is the entire world out there. So one night as Gem watches Teishi weave she hands her the scarf and a note.

It was selfish of me to leave…it was selfish of me to let you take your chances with Lisa. I knew deep down what she could have done to you. I spent so long being scared and jealous of you and everything you represented, that I failed to realise that we were just two sides of the same coin. I should have been there for you from the start.

So I suppose this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. Some great wide expanse of uncertainty. I hope with all the time we have now, I can make it all up to you.
