Off The Map
At the edge of the continent is an enormous ocean, deepening from jewel-blue to inky black as the waves stretch on and on. These waters are the realm of travellers, of wayfinders, of fate-chasers, of traders and smugglers.
The Floating Market
Drifting elusively through international waters, open to the determined, the resourceful or the desperate, there is a market. Assembled from a mismatched collage of rafts, ships and rickety rope-bridges, the Floating Market is an improvised maze and a safe den for all those who wish to operate outside the confines of law. Unreliable Narrators, independent weavers, alchemists, pirates and mysterious card-dealers all rub shoulders amidst the shops, bars and casinos; exchanging favours just as much as currency.
Here, it is rumoured you can buy almost anything to change your fate; be that a potion cure, a storybook you can pen your own ending to, or perhaps charms that claim to attract a certain fate. These commodities are often isolated to the Floating Market, with its lack of regulation, and once buyers start using them, rarely do they stop.
Do any of them work? Perhaps only Fate can answer that question, but how much does it matter if you are truly desperate?
You may be connected to an unorthodox reader of fates, an exile with strings to pull from their previous life, a resourceful smuggler, or perhaps a dealer you rely upon…

Fürge | he/him | A tall ginger man with fox ears and a tail, Fürge is never seen without a lop-sided smile and a pair of dice marked with the Cloud Seven Casino's logo. Careful what you say to him, though—he might make you bet on it. |
And Beyond?
Beyond these waters, beyond the remit of any continental authorities, lie many lesser-charted lands. Some remote islands, some not, but all beyond the knowledge of people from the continent…
The named nations on this wiki are intended to serve as inspiration points rather than mandatory character criteria. Do you have other ideas for an origin for your character that don't fit our nations? For example, did your character live on a remote island with a distinct approach to fate, or were they born and raised at sea? Feel free to approach the GM team if you have found yourself with a strong idea you don't think would work elsewhere! That said, please be aware that such an origin makes choosing Quirks from the Social section significantly more challenging.
